Job Posting: Executive Director


The International Institute, a well-established Western New York non-profit organization offering refugee resettlement and employment programs to thousands of clients, is seeking an Executive Director. Additionally, the Institute provides services to foreign-born survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, offers translation and interpretation services, presents global education programs to students, adults, and businesses, and hosts international visitors.

 

The Executive Director will be a visionary and results-oriented leader, who will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Institute. The successful candidate will set the strategy and vision, build the International Institute culture, lead the senior team, allocate capital appropriately, and set important goals for the organization and work systematically to meet them.

 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will inspire the staff and Board and provide both day-to-day operational management as well as proactive growth initiatives in a collaborative manner. While serving as an innovator leader, the Executive Director will have the drive and passion to remain at the forefront of the refugee and immigrant service arena. He or she will refine and develop opportunities to serve the Mission while remaining true to the Strategic Plan with a focus on human rights. Qualified candidates should have demonstrated skills in management, finance, fundraising and development, program planning and implementation.

 

Required competencies include: basic leadership orientation, financial acumen, decision-making, creativity, innovative thinking, strong oral and written communications skills, service orientation and political savvy along with a collaborative leadership style. A 4-year degree and a minimum of 7 years of increasing experience in a non-profit organization including administrative and supervisory responsibility, grants management and working with a Board of Directors.
