This Saturday Join the Erie County Language Access Working Group, of which IIB is a member, and Buffalo Public Schools for Language Access Day at Lafayette High School Saturday Academy.

The event, hosted by the Partnership for the Public Good and The New York Immigration Coalition, includes an overview of proposed county and state laws that address language access and invites local and state elected officials to hear the concerns of the community. Focus will be on advocacy and implementation of policies and services that ensure refugee and immigrant community members thrive.

You’ll hear from a panel of refugee and immigrant community leaders who are directly impacted by the lack of language access in Erie County and New York State.

Executive Director Jennifer Rizzo Choi recently spoke to Spectrum News Buffalo on the push for more language access in local government. That effort is supported by Buffalo Common Council Members who want to see its translation and interpretation services made accessible across the city. You can watch Rizzo-Choi’s comments on that feature here.

Saturday’s Language Access Day event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lafayette International Community High School located at 370 Lafayette Avenue, Buffalo New York 14213.
