JOB TITLE:  Special Programs Manager

PROGRAM:  New American Integration          

SUPERVISOR:  Director of New American Integration

WORKING HOURS:  Full time 40 hours per week. Primarily 8-4 or 9-5 with some flexibility based on client and agency need.


This is a full-time (40 hours), in-office, hourly position eligible for benefits. IIB offers healthcare benefits, a 403(b) package with employer contribution, an hour paid lunch, free parking, and a generous PTO policy.


Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the refugee or human services area

Experience: Experience with diverse cultures and/or refugee population is preferred, but not mandatory. Minimum of 2 years of successful project management and staff supervision is required, as well as experience managing federal and state grant funded projects

  • Ability to communicate professionally and work cooperatively with a diverse, multi-cultural group of clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds

  • Flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the agency and our clients
  • Current valid driver’s license, and access to own transportation
  • Ability to meet short timelines, and adhere to deadlines, under pressure
  • Able to effectively use a variety of data bases


The Special Programs Manager (SPM) is responsible for the supervision of existing and future auxiliary programs and team members within the NAI department. The SPM works with the Director to identify gaps in current services and seek out funding opportunities and/or partnerships to remedy those gaps. The SPM may represent our agency and clients at community stakeholder meetings and advocate for positive changes in service provision where required (social services, social security, health providers)


  • Supervise the current programs and team members for the following programs: Preferred Communities (PC), Office of New Americans Pathways Grant (ONA), ORR Career Pathways Grant (ORR), Hello Program (in home English language training) and Donations Coordinator.
  • Ensure that all program reports for the above are completed on time and files compliant with program guidelines
  • Ensure new and current staff are fully trained and receive ongoing support through weekly meetings and/or other required or offered trainings
  • Bring any concerns to the immediate attention of the NAI Programs Manager
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of New American Integration to develop new or modify existing programs as needed
  • Actively participate in funder calls and conferences if required
  • Work with the NAI management and refugee-led community-based organizations and other partners to enhance or augment IIB services and programs
  • Serve as an advocate for IIB and our clients
  • Attend departmental and agency meetings as required
  • Included in rotation of “refugee emergency cell phone” when needed
  • Perform other duties as required.
