The International Institute of Buffalo recently launched a series of videos to assist refugees and immigrants who are already living in, or might consider moving to, Buffalo. You Belong in Buffalo consists of seven instructive videos helping new Buffalonians navigate different challenges in their adopted community. The series was made possible thanks to a grant from KeyBank.
Studies and experience have indicated that new foreign-born residents were concerned that there were few services in place to help them navigate main stream services after the initial resettlement period. This series was produced to support the successful integration of refugees/immigrants into their new communities.
Including a video inviting the foreign born from other areas of the United States to consider moving to Buffalo, the series cover topics including financial literacy, home buying, navigating the school system and being a good neighbor. In addition to the English language versions, the videos are available in Swahili and Arabic – with more languages to follow. The videos are available on the Institute’s YouTube Channel.
