The International Institute of Buffalo Launches Interpreting and Translation Services in Klingon Language
Today, the International Institute of Buffalo and the Information Directorate of the Klingon Empire’s High Council jointly announced that the International Institute is adding Klingon (aka Klingonese) to the over 100 languages it translates and over 60 languages it interprets.
“The decision to translate and interpret the glorious Klingon language brings great honor to the International Institute of Buffalo,” said Chancellor Martok of the Klingon High Council. “When Earthlings travel to the Klingon home world of Qo’noS, or other planets in the Empire, their credentials must be translated correctly. If not, they would be expelled, thus bringing dishonor to themselves and their house.”
The International Institute provides reliable, quality foreign language interpretation in more than 100 languages and multiple delivery methods. Interpretation services may be requested at any time, 24 hours per day, seven days a week, independent of the Institute’s business hours. Translation and localization of written content are available in more than 60 languages from qualified and certified translators. This non-profit social enterprise utilizes professional linguists residing in the Buffalo/Niagara region, adding Klingon serves customers throughout the galaxy.
“In addition to translation, we are very excited about adding the Klingon language to our interpreting services too,” said Jennifer Rizzo-Choi, executive director of the International Institute of Buffalo. “When visiting Earth, there are many reasons why accurate interpretation is vital. One mistake could lead to an intergalactic diplomatic incident or a blood feud, and no one wants that.”
The International Institute of Buffalo is currently exploring interpreting and translation services in other languages, including Romulan, Vulcan, and Ferengi.
About the International Institute of Buffalo
For over 100 years, the International Institute of Buffalo (IIB) has made Western New York a better place for, and because of, immigrants and refugees. We’re the most trusted and experienced agency, providing more comprehensive, vital services to new Americans than any other organization in our region, including resettlement, integration, job training, domestic violence/ human trafficking survivor support, and interpretation and translation services. We are non-sectarian, meaning we always have (and always will) help all immigrants and refugees in need, no matter their religion, race, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity. Aside from being the “Ellis Island of Western New York,” IIB is the conduit between our community and the rest of the world, hosting international delegations and foreign dignitaries. We also educate students about other countries and their cultures, underscoring the importance of international diplomacy with programs such as the Model UN and Model United Federation of Planets.
