Employment and Interpreting + Translation Intern
Interns work with the Employment and Interpreting + Translation teams to complete daily administrative tasks, provide support to refugees on the job hunt and assist with new initiatives and special projects related to client and department needs.
Requirements:
- Ability to provide a “trauma-informed” approach and sensitivity to working with refugees and other vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of diverse cultures and/or willingness to learn cultural customs
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Good speaking, writing and listening skills
- Creativity, motivation and passion
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
- Access to a car/reliable transportation
- Adherence to strict guidelines regarding confidentiality
General Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic clerical office duties including record filing, data organization, billing
- Update databases to reflect completed interpreting and translating jobs and clients’ attendance in Job Club, completed resumes/cover letters, interview times and locations
- Communicate with interpreters and translators via email and text to schedule/confirm appointments with clients
- Attend intakes with clients to complete assessments and paperwork and help them complete budgeting forms
- Help clients search for jobs and fill out applications
- Participate in outreach initiatives, including calls with potential employers, business partners, interpreters and translators
- Perform additional outreach to the foreign-born population for further recruiting and community education
- Complete other duties as assigned
