Adjustments to Video Interpreting Rates

Over the last few months, providing language access services to Limited English Proficiency clients has been challenging in ways that none of us could have anticipated. COVID-19 has changed the way the whole world works/provides services. Here at the Institute–we have seen a tremendous shift from in-person interpreting to third-party platform interpreting via Zoom, Skype, Google Meets, etc.

We recognize that many organizations are holding meetings remotely due to COVID, and not due to preference for third-party platform interpreting. We are therefore adjusting our agreements so that billing for Zoom and other scheduled video calls matches in-person pricing. We do not want to charge our customers more for a virtual meeting than in-person meeting if the meeting is held virtually because of public health concerns.

Going forward, all Zoom and other third party platform appointments will be billed at in-person billing rates, not VRI/OPI rates as previously stipulated in the contract. These rates will be in effect as of December 15th, 2020.
