Observed every year, World Refugee Day provides an opportunity to honor the courage of our community’s new neighbors and their resilience in building new lives in the United States.
A “Walk in Their Words” will allow participants to listen to refugee and immigrant audio stories during the virtual walk/run and hear the personal experiences and journeys of individuals from many different regions of the world. Proceeds will support agencies that serve refugees and immigrants and have experienced recent funding cuts.
FOR A $30 MINIMUM DONATION, YOU CAN PARTICIPATE FROM ANYWHERE!
Donations will go to the International Institute of Buffalo, ONLY if you select us in your registration.
You can participate from anywhere from 6/13-6/20! However, we invite you to join us on Saturday, June 19th between 12pm-3pm at Five Points Bakery. We have prepared a 2.8 mile and a 5.7 mile walking / biking route in the West Side of Buffalo that feature services for refugees and immigrants for you to explore as you listen to these humbling stories. After you’re done with your walk/run/roll, we invite you back to Five Points Bakery for a complimentary coffee and to learn more about how you can be more involved with helping newly arrived refugees settle into life in Buffalo
