By November 18, 2021No Comments
Our Translation team is now offering a new service for people who are doing genealogical research or have old letters and documents that need to be translated into English. Make those old documents in albums or shoeboxes come to life in a language you understand! Learn more about your own ancestors and origins, or consider giving the gift of family history for the holidays!Currently supported languages: French, German, Polish, but we can work with requests for other languages.
For more information, please contact Ryan Green at translation@iibuff.org or by phone at 716-883-1900 x378

Service Packages

Gist translation: For people who have: letters from family members, old pictures, journals, diaries, etc. written in other languages.

Includes A brief translation of each document outlining the most important information: names, places mentioned, and a brief summary. Then you can decide to translate all or none of it.

Consultation with a linguist: If you have old letters or documents and you would like to know what they say. This is a good starting point for research into family history.

Includes time with a linguist who will go over the materials with you.

Full translation: You are doing genealogical research and you hit a wall with a single document (a single birth/marriage certificate). This document can lead to further research.

Includes A full translation with matching formatting.
