Case Manager - Employment
The Case Manager identifies and assists employable clients in obtaining and retaining employment by enrolling them in various relevant programs to their needs, providing tailored resources through engaging workshops, and maintaining consistent, helpful communication to support successful placement. This position collaborates with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with federal guidelines and IIB protocols while maintaining confidentiality. This position exercises independent judgment in prioritizing client needs, coordinating services, and making day-to-day decisions within the scope of federal guidelines, program requirements, and organizational policies.
- Combination of education and experience in social work, human services, recruitment, job coaching, job placement services or a related field; relevant internships and/or nonprofit experience accepted
- Experience providing services to diverse cultures and/or refugee populations a plus
- Multilingual skills in languages relevant to refugee populations are strongly preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, both internal and external correspondence
- Organized with strong prioritization and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong research and job-matching skills
- Flexible schedule; able to accommodate the needs of the agency and its clients
- Ability to work independently
- Basic computer skills using MS Office
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Reliable transportation with active, valid auto insurance and driver license
- Assesses and guides clients in employment matters and addresses barriers to employment
- Onboards clients and ensures enrolled clients have an employment plan and resume; actively works to assist clients in follow-through of employment plan
- Ensures clients are accurately and timely connected to appropriate services, including referrals and interpreting support as needed
- Assists clients with opening bank accounts and obtaining state identification
- Enrolls clients into programs such as Match Grant and RSSP/NYSESRP based on their circumstances; refers to NYSONA Case Manager based on their education level and professional background
- Enrolls all RSSP/NYSESRP clients into BIN and updates case notes in compliance with subcontract requirements
- Assists clients in completing employment paperwork including testing, as required
- May occasionally travel within the region to job fairs, employers, assist with document transfer, or other basic tasks that require travel
- Works with employers and clients after placement to support job retention; identifies training needs and opportunities, and proactively addresses concerns
- Makes new connections and builds community relationships with various entities such as employer partners, other agencies, educational institutions and service providers such as financial and DMV partners
- Assists clients with DSS process for notification of employment; ensures required paperwork is complete and accurate as outlined in contracts to maintain accurate case files
- Meets reporting deadlines for all contracted services in coordination with Employment Program Manager and Director of Language & Employment Services
- Conducts/arranges both on- and off-site client workshops related to employment (Job Club, Library Tour, Job Fair, etc.)
- Works with colleagues to create and streamline employment reports
- Reasonably advocates on the client’s behalf with employers and service providers
- Attends departmental and agency meetings as required
- Maintains accurate and compliant case files; clearly documents all services provided and ensures confidentiality practices are followed
- Utilizes trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches when supporting clients and staff
- Supports the organization’s mission and values, promotes a positive culture and remains actively engaged
- Other duties as assigned by a member of management within the job scope
