“I think my grandmother would approve of this donation.”
Recently, Althea Hendricks donated Hungarian and German religious texts to the International Institute of Buffalo. She inherited the Hungarian book from her grandmother, born in Hungary in 1883. Her grandmother was a “Goose Girl,” like a shepherd for a flock of geese. In the early 1900s, she immigrated to the United States and, ultimately, came to live with Althea and her parents. The book, published in 1896, became Althea’s upon her grandmother’s passing.
In addition, Ms. Hendricks donated two German religious books that she got from a neighbor. Those books date back to 1867 and 1900, respectively.
