JOB TITLE: Employment Case Manager

PROGRAM: New American Integration

SUPERVISOR: Director of New American Integration

WORKING HOURS: Full time 40 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY:

The Employment Case Manager is responsible for assisting employable clients to obtain and retain employment. This is accomplished by enrolling clients into an appropriate program and providing them with all necessary services through engaging workshops, client meetings, and case management while ensuring compliance of documentation of service provision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: AA or combination of education/experience in refugee or human services area

Experience: Experience with diverse cultures and/or refugee population is preferred, but not mandatory. Experience working in a professional office setting is preferred.

Requirements:

· Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and organizational skills, including time management

· Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse team of colleagues, clients, and external partners

· Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting and communicate with clients from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds and lifestyles

· Current valid driver’s license and access to own transportation

· Flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the agency and our clients

· Ability to meet short timelines and deadlines and multi-task

· Knowledge of computers, e-mail, faxes, and Microsoft Office

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assess and counsel clients in employment matters and address barriers to employment making referrals when needed

· Ensure all enrolled clients have an employment plan and resume

· Actively work to assist client in follow-through of employment plan

· Assist clients with opening bank account and obtaining NYS ID

· Enroll all RSSP/NYSESRP clients into BIN and update case notes in compliance with subcontract requirements

· Assist clients in completing new-hire paperwork and completing all pre-employment testing where required

· Work with Job Developer, Employment Program Manager, employers, and clients after placement to ensure job retention

· Correspond with employers, local agencies and other service providers as necessary

· Assists client in notifying DSS of employment and ensure required paperwork is complete and accurate as outlined in contracts to maintain accurate case files

· Meet reporting deadlines for all contracted services in communication with Employment Program Manager and NAI Administrative Assistant

· Meet with clients on a pre-determined basis to ensure ongoing communication

OTHER:

• Conduct/arrange workshops related to employment (Job Club, Library Tour, etc.)

• Communicate employment issues and trends with Employment Program Manager

• Work with Employment Program Manager to create employment reports

• Responsibly utilize interpreting services

• Attend departmental and agency meetings and perform other duties as required

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION:

Works under general supervision of the Employment Program Manager
