Global Education Internship
Internship Title: Global Education Intern
Description:
Interns work with the department to enlighten learners of all ages about global events, cultural competency/sensitivity, refugee health, and how Western New York serves as a diverse hub in the U.S.
Hours: 8 – 10 hours per week / a minimum of 4-hour blocks
Duration: A minimum of one full semester
Supervisor(s): Director of International Exchanges and Education
Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge and/or experience with diverse cultures and/or willingness to learn cultural customs
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
- Access to reliable transportation
- Research skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
General Responsibilities:
- Assist with developing meaningful global education programs for children by providing support with events that are conducted in schools, summer camps and after school programs
- Assist reviewing evaluation materials for cultural competency training and help in researching activities for the trainings
- Draft trivia questions for World Trivia Competitions
- Assist with preparing for Education programs such as Model UN, Global Kids, etc.,
- Assist in researching and drafting proposals for the International Visitor Leadership Program and preparing materials for selected programs
- Maintain direct communication with supervisor
- Complete other duties as assigned
