Internship Title: Integration Intern
Description: Interns work alongside case managers to provide post 90-day resettlement services to refugee clients through a mix of field and administrative work.
Hours: At least 8 hours per week / either one 8 hour day or two 4 hour days
Duration: A minimum of one full semester
Supervisor(s): Refugee Program Manager and assigned case manager
Skill Requirements:
- Ability to provide a “trauma-informed” approach and sensitivity to working with refugees and other vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of diverse cultures and/or willingness to learn cultural customs
- Access to a car/reliable transportation preferred but not required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
- Adherence to confidentiality policies
General Responsibilities:
- Accompany clients to appointments, including but not limited, social services, school enrollment and employment related appointments
- May meet weekly with clients needing additional support and regular check-ins
- May conduct drop-in hours for clients to assess needs and address immediate concerns or bring immediate concerns to attention of integration case manager
- May assist in lunch time telephone coverage if needed
- Completes client case notes according to contract standards
- Educate clients on using public transportation
- Assist with paperwork and appointment scheduling
- Complete other duties as assigned
