Internship Title: Interpreting and Translation Intern
Description: Interns assist with the language service needs of our clients and external agency partners, including schools, hospitals, and courts, through mostly administrative work.
Hours: 8 – 10 hours per week / a minimum of 4 hour blocks
Duration: A minimum of one full semester
Supervisor(s): Lead Coordinator of Interpreting and Translation
Requirements:
- Ability to provide a “trauma-informed” approach and sensitivity to working with refugees and other vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of diverse cultures and/or willingness to learn cultural customs
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Access to reliable transportation
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
General Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic clerical office duties including filing, copying, faxing and preparing and mailing invoices
- Update the database to reflect completed interpreting and translating jobs, including hours of service and location of service provided
- Communicate with interpreters and translators via email and text to schedule/confirm appointments with clients
- Complete other duties as assigned
