The Buffalo News recently featured the Nepalese officials we recently hosted in Western New York. It’s one of many international delegations we coordinate annually, part of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
The stop in Western New York was one of the group’s three across the country. The group focused on policy implementation, collaboration with civil society, and effective and transparent government services. Other IVLP delegations we’ve hosted in 2023 concentrated on an eclectic mix of topics, including democracy, marine conservation, women’s entrepreneurship, and renewable energy. The group’s visit to Open Buffalo in downtown Buffalo centered on advancing marginalized communities and organizing at the ground level.
The delegation made several other stops during their five-day visit to the region. Those included government offices, civic organizations, and historic/ cultural sites, all capped by a tour of the Underground Railroad Heritage Center, in Niagara Falls.
