WKBW-TV was on site recently when IIB and Leadership Buffalo teamed up to help highly skilled immigrants and refugees use their established skills to find meaningful work in the U.S. The second annual collaboration matched professional mentors with 48 immigrant mentees to provide meaningful advice and guidance. It took place at our Delaware Avenue location in downtown Buffalo, NY.
The Professional Pathways program helps professionally focused new Americans return to their former careers, continue in higher education, or transition into jobs that utilize their skillsets. IIB’s ONA Professional Pathways Job Coach Mirvet Bassam, Career Pathways Case Manager Lauren Gertner, and Professional Pathways Job Coach Maya Miller coordinated the event and were on hand to administer the evening.

The International Institute of Buffalo’s Professional Pathways program helps immigrants, refugees, and asylees return to former professional careers or to continue higher education to attain the credentials they need to ply their trade in the USA. We’ve helped people in occupations, including accountants, pharmacists, and architects. We also train people to work as rank-and-file employees in industries including manufacturing, landscaping, and hospitality.
