Development and Communications Intern
Interns work with both the Development and Communications Departments to create and share content, expand social media outreach, maintain accurate donation records and correspond with donors.
• Ability to provide a “trauma-informed” approach and sensitivity to working with refugees and
other vulnerable populations
• Knowledge of diverse cultures and/or willingness to learn cultural customs
• Access to a car/reliable transportation
• Comfortable working independently and in collaborative environments
• Adherence to strict guidelines regarding confidentiality
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational
skills.
Additional Requirements:
• Willingness to do physical work and ability to lift 10 – 20 pounds
• Assist with the arrangement, organization, valuing, reporting and acknowledgement of in-kind
donations
• Attend home setups, Conversation Club and Employment Buddies sessions and tabling/outreach
events
• Maintain volunteer, community group and university staff databases
• Strategize outreach methods
• Provide additional event support
• Complete other duties as assigned.
• Fill out the Intern Application Form
• Interview with the Intern and Volunteer Coordinator and Program Supervisor(s)
